Mr. Riewe goes to Washington

I have been accepted to attend the Christian Schools International Bible instruction Symposium in Washington D.C.

More info about the conference.

Here is where I am going to be posting updates, info and picture of what I am doing on the trip.

Day 4- Adventuring and Traveling back

On my final day in DC I had the morning to explore a bit. I decided to go to the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum.

It was really amazizng to see all the different aircraft

I also got to take in a show called Dark Universe in their Planetarium

Then it was off to the airport. I was walking on my way to the Metro rail station when I happened upon a bus stop that said free shuttle to the airport. I basically got my private shuttle to the airport thanks to DC metro.

On the plane from DC to Minnesota I got a window seat again and got a few cool pictures from the plane.

Then I got back to Great Falls and this is what my car looked like. And the really “fun part” was that under all that snow was a layer of ice.

Day 3- Last day of the Symposium and some exploring.

We had a keynote from Paul Caminiti about the History of the Modern Bible and how we engage with the Bible today. He is one of the people working on the Immersion project which is an amazing publishing of the Bible in a “new” (technically old way). He even gave me a couple copies.

We got to learn more about the history of the Bible from the Dea Sea Scrolls, to the hand written illuminated Bibles, to the Gutenberg press and then looking at all the languages the Bible has been translated into.

They also had an amazing exhibit on the Slave Bible. Such a tragic part of the history of the Bible.

When the Symposium was over I did a self guided tour of the National Mall.

There was the Washington Monument

Which is currently closed Thanks to Spider-man.

The Lincoln Memorial

The Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial

And I walked up to the White House

It was quite a journey

Day 2- Start of the Symposium
Today was a great day of learning and getting to meet other teachers. (Which doesn’t show great on pictures so there are not a whole bunch from the morning)
I did get some free books to bring back to school.

I also met someone from form Dordt and CACE (Center for the Advancement of Christian Education) who knows Ms. Written.  Hi Ms Witten
We also got to go the Museum of the Bible and got to go through an interactive Nazareth exhibit.

Day 1- A long day of traveling

This day started after school driving down to Great Falls. I woke up at 3am to get to the airport to catch my flight at 5:30. I even saw a cougar at the airport.

My first flight was from Great Falls to Minnesota . Then from Minnesota to Washington. Here are a few picture out of the plane window.

Once in Washington I took the metro to my Hotel there was a stop at Foggy Bottom but I did not see Mayor Humdinger.

I got to my room and this is the view from my window. This building is the Headquarters for NASA

I am looking forward to the start of my symposium tomorrow.
